Native Places 1.5M ratings 277k ratings See, that’s what the app is perfect for. Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna Native Places A collection of thoughts and hand-drawn sketches that illustrate the value of looking closely at buildings and places. by Frank Harmon, FAIA Posts Archive Ray and Charles Eames House We entered the celebrated, high-ceilinged living room. Sunlight filtered through the tall windows onto a collection of dolls, toys, books, tatami mats, plants, and twigs. We felt as if we’d walked inside a Japanese lantern. “What a beautiful room!” I exclaimed to the owner, Ray Eames, as my wife Judy and I stood in the sunlight there one October morning in 1986. “You make it look so nice,” Ray replied. Ray and her late husband, Charles Eames, designed their new house in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles in 1949. The house and its collections immediately became an icon of American design. “The details are not the details,” Charles wrote. “They make the design.”
